Hi everyone, Scott Munden here from Huntleigh Technology Group.
Welcome to this segment of our cybersecurity series.
Today’s topic is security awareness training. In a previous session, we talked about non-intrusive, low-cost ways to implement additional layers of defense, and security awareness certainly is in that range.
Some of you have regulatory or compliance requirements that cause you to have to have security awareness training. Others have the insurance policies that require it some have both in in this case, if you’ve done a risk assessment, it may have popped right out and noted that in the risk assessment and given you a priority either low, medium, or high in terms of where you’re at in that regard.
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that if something does happen, we know that the average time to recovery is about 26 days, and we know what the impact would be on our business. It’s a very simple calculation.
And security awareness, again, is a really non-intrusive way for you to add that layer of defense. We know that the large majority of attacks come through what we call unforced errors, human errors, phishing, smishing attacks, and generally your emails or certain areas of your of your operation or the most vulnerable to that.
Security awareness gives you the ability to, on an ongoing basis, educate yourself and your employees, your team about what things are happening out there. It stays current and up to date on the latest and greatest techniques that the bad guys are using to get into your network and then provides an ongoing way for you to just keep that awareness and that vigilance.
And you can even create programs and incentives around this. Again, it allows you to comply with your regulatory requirements as well as your insurance policy. And in general, it just builds, again, an additional awareness, another layer of protection that we all need these days.
If you want more information about this, Huntleigh.com or look at what we’re posting on LinkedIn, we can help you get set up with a program. So we’ll look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
